Tel Beer Sheva

From the series “The Surviving Artifacts of Jewish Civilization”

Researchers have discovered it relatively recently, in the 70s of the last century. The oldest of the finds dates back to the 4th century BC. Findings relating to the 2nd century BC are much more interesting. They indicate that there was a large village, whose residents had knowledge and skills that were outstanding for that age.

They skillfully processed an ivory, were able to melt the metal and make necessary tools of stone, as well as build unique underground rooms. Today, travelers can see the archaeological area with ruins of buildings that have been built by the inhabitants of Judah. In the heyday of the city, there were … Read all

Wailing Wall

From the series “The Surviving Artifacts of Jewish Civilization”
One of the greatest shrines of Judaism, located outside the territory of the Temple Mount, is the Wailing Wall. It is a part of the preserved ancient wall that thousands of years ago has surrounded the Temple Mount. The length of the surviving fragment is 57 meters. Pilgrims come here from all over the world to pray and leave a note with names of loved ones who need help of the divine powers in one of the crevices of the ancient wall. The exact date of the beginning and the end of construction of the wall is unknown. According to some reports, it was begun during the reign of Herod the Great in 19 BC. After the … Read all
