The main symbol of Scarborough is the old Fort King George visible from virtually any area of the town. The height of the fort is 47 meters; it had been built in 1779 and has long been the main defensive building on the island. The old fort recreates its original form, though it has been completely restored and renovated. Currently there are numerous travel agencies in local historic buildings.
