Amazing Kastro fortress built in later 14th century is situated to the north of Skiathos. The fortress situated on top of step cliff used to hide about 300 buildings and 30 churches behind its walls. Until early 19th century, the fortress has been inhabited and has protected islanders from pirates and conquerors. Only a part of this massive complex has survived until this day, but three ancient churches are in the list.
