As for the historical symbols, the most significant and famous one is the Fishermen's Church (Fischerkirche). The first Romanesque church was built on its site back in the 11th century, and in the Middle Ages it significantly expanded and was rebuilt in the Gothic style. The last major reconstruction of the church took place more than 60 years ago. In the course of the works, unique treasures such as original frescoes, mosaics and glass paintings were discovered here. Besides that, the church houses one of the oldest organs in Europe brought here in the early 18th century. Also, the old church has unique acoustic characteristics, therefore in the summer classical music concerts are regularly held within its walls.
