Karlsruher Schloss Karlsruhe Technical University remains one of the main symbols of the city. The university was founded in 1825. It is considered one of the oldest and best technical universities in the country. However, curious travelers will be interested in visiting the university from the architectural point of view. The cultural program of any vacation in the city should definitely include visiting the palace complex, the construction of which took place in the first half of the 18th century. The beautiful palace complex made in the Baroque style is surrounded by a huge park. Many years ago an impenetrable forest was located on the site of the palace. The construction of the palace was started right on an undeveloped forest area.
Today this Palace Park is known as the largest and most beautiful park in the city. Its territory often becomes the location of numerous important holidays and festivals. A part of old buildings is now dedicated to the exhibition of Museum of Baden (Badisches Landesmuseum). Next to the palace park travellers will find beautiful Botanical Garden. Baden Museum is known as the largest cultural center of the city. Exhibition halls of the museum are located on four floors, and offer visitors interesting collections of archaeological, historical and ethnographic exhibits.
Market Square is considered the center of the historic district of Karlsruhe. There is the building of the town hall of incredible beauty nearby. This part of the city is the location of another important symbol of the city - a monument in the shape of a pyramid. The monument is dedicated to the city's founder, Karl Wilhelm. The monument was erected directly above the tomb of Margrave. According to historical records several centuries ago a church was located in this place. The eastern part of the city is the location of another important architectural object - Schloss Gottesaue, which was built in the 9th century. Originally the palace belonged to a Benedictine monastery, and later it was decided to open the University of Music in this beautiful historic building. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
