Groningen Groningen is an ancient city with fascinating history. Its rapid development was in the first half of the 17th century, when a university was founded there. Museum Groninger is one of the most noteworthy cultural institutions of Groningen. The museum is located near the railway station. Its three spacious halls exhibit a rich collection of paintings. The age of some of the pictures is more than two hundred years. Niemeijer Tobacco Museum is a very unusual place, and guests will see an interesting collection of marine artifacts in Northern Maritime Museum.
