started yet in 1881 when the former residence of the private counselor of King Wilhelm III was turned into a luxurious hotel. Originally, the hotel was intended for members of royal families, aristocracy, and celebrities who arrived in the country. The famous historic hotel welcomed such guests as Nikolai II, Theodore Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Winston Churchill, emperor of Ethiopia Haile Selassie, Mata Hari, and many more. Famous ballet dancer Anna Pavlova spent her last days at the hotel. Aristocratic Steigenberger Kurhaus Hotel is a great architectural landmark. This magnificent palace was built in 1884-1885. Many years ago, it was known as “the royal resort house” and was the favorite place of meeting for European aristocracy. The “Kurhaus guestbook” is still present at the hotel. It was launched in 1893 by Wilhelmina, yet a princess at that time.
