Culture of Agropoli. Places to visit - old town, temples, theaters, museums and palaces

One of the main symbols of the city is an ancient fortress dating back to the 15th century. Although the first defensive structures were erected on its site in the 6th century, the fortress has been perfectly preserved to the present day and is the most important historic landmark of Agropoli. The powerful castle is of unusual triangular shape, once it was surrounded by a deep moat filled with water. The city has managed to preserve one more attraction from the Byzantine Empire times - the beautiful Church Of Saints Peter And Paul, the construction of which was completed in 593. In the 17th century, the beautiful church was the main seat of an archbishop.

Guests of the city should definitely walk along a picturesque port area. The City Wall that had repeatedly protected the city from pirates and invaders in the Middle Ages stretches along the beautiful promenade. Many picturesque streets begin in this place, a walk along which would also give great pleasure.
Speaking about Agropoli's sights, it is also necessary to mention its wonderful nature. The amazing marine parks of Infreschi and Santa Maria Castellabate attract thousands of outdoor enthusiasts every year. During a walk through picturesque places, you can see beautiful caves, marvelously beautiful lavender groves, as well as rare plant species and typical inhabitants of these areas - martens, boar, partridges, foxes and golden eagles. The national parks have their own historic sites - medieval towers and ruins of fortifications. Copyright www.orangesmile.com

The Chiesa della Madonna di Costantinopoli church is interesting not only from an architectural point of view – it also has a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the quay. The shrine is dedicated to Madonna, who, according to legend, appeared here several times. It always happened on the 24th of July and the first time it did was in the year 1535. The church, though small, is worth seeing, at least because it gives an inspiring feeling when it is visited – pacification to be exact. The church itself was built at the beginning of the 20th century; hence it has a modern look.
