The Abaco Islands are extremely popular among tourists (especially American ones). There are many stores here: from just little ones to impressively huge shopping centres. If you want to buy something, it’s better to pay in the Bahamian dollar. Even though the currency is quite pegged to the United States dollar, still different exchangers provide different exchange rates. Anyway, there is one simple rule: the closer exchangers to overcrowded touristic points – the less profitable exchange rate is. Prices here are almost the same as in the USA. It can slightly vary depending on a type of product. For example, almost all the food products imported and their delivery pretty expensive, so you won’t find any cheap food here. On the other hand, some kinds of goods are almost a quarter cheaper than in most countries. The reason for it is quite simple – there are no import and export duties on some goods. For example, here you can buy perfumes by famous manufactures, handbags, belts, shoes by world-famous firms, and gorgeous watches. Such goods as golden, silver or platinum jewellery, cameras, and different accessories for it are rather cheap as well. Porcelain cups, teapots or chinaware would be a really nice purchase. Porcelain goods are also free of duty so it’s brought to the islands from all around the world.
