Despite its relatively young age (founded in 1991), it has already managed to make for itself a worthy place among other universities in Europe. As for the building, it was constructed in 1903 by German architects in neo-Gothic style. There used to be buildings for military personnel, guardhouses and headquarters (6 buildings in total), which during the 20th century (before the decision to establish here an educational institution) belonged to German, French, Soviet and Lithuanian forces.
