Kiev Pechersk Lavra is one more irreplaceable symbol of Kiev. This is a large complex of religious buildings, the history of which starts in 1051. This is the year when monks started transforming caves into monasteries and temples. It took as long as nine centuries to turn an empty space on the right bank of the Dnepr River into a beautiful complex of magnificent churches and monasteries.
