Salou is a wonderful city with a rich cultural life. All the year round the city witnesses dozens of bright country fests and holidays succeeding each other and attracting thousands of tourists from all over the world. One of the most exciting events in the life of the city is still the Motor Star Festival. As it comes clear from the name of the event, the festival is dedicated to automobiles and driving. The main event of the festival is an automobile parade. The procession of cars starts from the Jaume I boulevard (Paseo Jaume I) and runs though the main streets of the city. The main summer event in Salou is considered to be the Golden Nights’ Summer Fiesta which is annually visited by more than 300 thousands of foreign guests. Queen of the festival contest, bright music shows and great pyrotechnic production, street performances and fairs are the main events of the entertainment program of the grand summer fest. Many country fests are devoted to significant historical events. One of such holidays is the Festa del Rei Jaume I.
The holiday is celebrated during a week. The fest starts on the 3rd of September as exactly this day in 1229 the King set to conquer Majorca. His deeds significantly affected the history of the city and sufficiently changed its fortune.
