Not far from the city center is a beautiful cathedral built the best traditions of the Gothic style and complemented by unique elements of the Mudejar style typical for Spain. At first glance, it is hard to realize that this cathedral was built just a few years ago, as it looks like an original ancient structure. In the daytime the cathedral operates as a museum: for a small fee, everyone can appreciate its unique interior decoration recreating the style of the past. In the evenings, church services are often held in the cathedral. An outstanding historic landmark of national importance is Bellver Castle located in the immediate vicinity of the resort. It is the only round castle in Spain. The fortress built in the 14th century was inspired by the ancient Jewish Herodium. The historical castle stands on a hill, whose height is 140 meters, so it is perfectly visible from many parts of the island. For many years the fortress has been used for various cultural events, and part of the historic building is occupied by the museum. In the vicinity of Paguera is the charming village of Cala Fornells, which is sure to surprise fans of hiking and historic sites.
