A significant part of the island’s coastal area is occupied by large-scale resort complexes, each of which has a private beach. There are only two public beaches on Moorea available to all travelers. The most popular site is Temae Beach originating near the airport; its length is about 1.5 kilometers. The coast is covered with white sand, due to which the water looks saturated turquoise.
