Mayrhofen is a ski resort. There is everything for the convenience of riding both beginners and experienced athletes here in the season. Three main ski areas are located near the city. There are slopes of the Ahornspitze for those who are just trying their hand at skiing and snowboarding and are not yet sure of their technique. The longest route here is five and a half kilometers. It ends in the city itself. Those who have already overcome blue and green routes, head for the mountain slopes Penkenjoch in the ski area of Hippach and Finkenberg. They are located between Mayrhofen and Zell am Ziller. Red trails of medium length are mostly located here. The South-Western region of Finkenberg is also suitable for those who like short but difficult trails. If you are a fan of free descent, you should go to the slopes of Gerent. This is where the steepest track in all of Austria is located. It is called Harakiri. The slope, which reaches 78% in some sections, fully justifies such a formidable name. The track, ideal for fans of long routes, is located here. This is the Hohenmeter-Fresser-Runde. It is essentially a chain of lifts and descents, stretching for as much as 46 kilometers. More than fifty lifts are located in the vicinity of the city. The longest cable car in the country runs here. This is Ahornbahn.
