More to see in Kirchberg in Tirol
Kirchberg in Tirol is located at an altitude of 837 meters above sea level. It was settled in the Bronze Age. Originally exclusively Illyrians lived here. But the Bavarians began to come to their lands about fourteen centuries ago. They partially destroyed and assimilated the local population. Historical Chronicles indicate that the settlement first came into the Church papers in the distant 902. It was donated to the Bishopric of Regensburg at this time. The land changed the owner almost five centuries later. It went to Friderich Von Chiemsee as part of the pledge. Kirchberg became part of the Tirol recently by the standards of its own history, in 1816. Today it is a ski resort, known for its slopes and the opportunity to relax on the shore of a beautiful mountain lake in the summer. The Roman Catholic Church of St. Ulrich is considered to be the most famous building in the settlement today. It rises above the houses of the townspeople for several tens of meters due to its location on the hill. The Church is interesting both outside and inside. So it is worth spending time and effort on a difficult climb up the hill and to appreciate the interior of the temple. One very interesting local legend is connected with the cult structure. There was already one chapel of St. Michael in Kirchberg in 1332. The year of its construction is unknown. But one thing is known – the structure naturally began to need repair over time. All necessary materials were purchased and prepared … Read further
