Do you prefer the underground world to the underwater one? Then you will definitely like it in Marche. The Frasassi Caves are located in this part of Italy. Accidentally discovered in the 70s, now they attract dozens of thousands of tourist every year. Though, this miracle of nature was known to people long before – inside there are an 11th-century chapel and an octagon-shaped church, built in 1828. Nobody knows, why those buildings were abandoned. This unbelievably beautiful place does not only mesmerize everyone, who comes here but is also a real reminder of the greatness of nature and the fleeting of a human’s life. If you are going to the caves for the first time, put on warm clothes and waterproof shoes. The “green” route takes a little more than an hour and doesn’t require a special physical training, the “blue” and the “red” ones will take two and three hours respectively and request a good physical shape.

Gola del Furlo reserve will not only please the visitors with rich flora and fauna and multiple foot routes of different complexity levels but also with man-maid monuments of the past. One day Etruscan and the Romans lived here, and we can still see the intact footprints of their work. Massive defensive walls, stone sculptures, and tunnels – all those constructions survived their creators. Aqualagna and Fossombrone cities, where you may find a lot of interesting historical monuments, are located on the territory of the reserve. Do you like animals? Then visit Parco Zoo Falconara-Marittima. A lot of animals, from lions to lemurs and flamingos, in spacious aviaries, are friendly to the visitors, giving everyone the opportunity to get a good look at them. Take an excursion to Lame Rosse. An almost two-hour walk will require certain efforts, but the fantastic views are worth it. Where else could you possibly see the almost Grand Canyon in miniature? Remember, that the road goes uphill for the major part of the route.

Do you like to ride a bike? Then go to the suburbs of Fano. There is a 12-kilometers long route, which goes through the picturesque places. There is a nice restaurant to eat at your destination. However, it is easier to travel around by car. You should rent a car if you plan to visit as many towns and villages of Marche as possible, and not to depend on the public transport. If you are older than 21 years old and you have been driving for at least 12 months, in most of the local places you will only need your driving license. But if you don’t have an international driving license, the police might fine you for 300 euro. So if you plan to rent a car in Marche, make an international driving license in advance.
