Vacation on Kefallonia beaches - hidden bays, top resorts and recreation areas

Vacation at the picturesque island is impossible without beaches. Kefallonia is extremely popular among fans of water sports and active leisure. Makrys Gialos is probably the calmest and the most spectacular beach on the island. This is a vast coast covered with dark sand, while water at the beach is intriguing and almost unnaturally blue in color. There's no equipment at all and tourists have to use natural caverns as changing rooms. However, the beach is never crowded and most of its guests are islanders or tourists from nearby hotels.
Those preferring well-equipped beaches should pay attention to Xi beach also informally known as the Red Beach. It owes its name to fiery-red sand covering the beach. Xi is very well equipped, with loungers and nice sunshades on it. There are also popular hotels and restaurants nearby.
Petani beach is popular among travelers who like to rest in picturesque areas. This tiny coast is amazingly beautiful with its snow-white sand and azure water complemented with calm atmosphere. The beach is never crowded thanks to absence of large hotels or apartments nearby. It’s easily accessible with asphalt road running to the beach. The tavern at Petani beach is worth extra mentioning, as it offers excellent home specialty dishes. Copyright www.orangesmile.com
