The festival starts in mid-August and lasts for at least 10 days. It is the most ambitious and bright theatrical festival in North America. The main part of celebrations is held in the picturesque historic district of Old Strathcona. There are grand open-air performances and small acts with aspiring actors; the festival's program includes about 200 shows and 1,500 individual performances.
Traditionally, the festival is attended by theater actors from Japan, Austria, New Zealand, Argentina, the United States, the UK and even Africa, which makes the holiday even more rich and interesting.
