Isla de la Juventud is located approximately 100 kilometers deep into the Caribbean Sea from the main island. Beaches in Isla de la Juventud are recognized as one of the best for underwater swimming. Tourists can get to the island by airplane from Havana. The journey time is only 45 minutes. Local diving clubs provide their clients with equipment, offer lessons for beginners, and organize underwater excursions. Water in the Caribbean remains calm and warm even during the rainy season. There are no strong currents in the local coastal waters, and the visibility is 30 to 40 meters. These conditions make Cuba’s coastal water suitable even for beginner divers. It doesn’t matter what area you choose to dive, you will always find clear water, colorful tropical fish, corals, and the remains of the sunken ships or airplanes. Havana’s beaches are also comfortable and suitable for diving. One thing to consider – the number of people willing to dive is usually big, so tourists might need to book diving sessions in advance. There are special learning courses for beginners.
