Cavtat is the southernmost and one of the most attractive towns in Croatia. Its history goes back more than two thousand years. This picturesque town has seen many famous historical events that were embodied in its incomparable architectural monuments. Much of the historical and architectural sites that can be seen today were constructed after the 15th century. One of the attractions of the old town is a stone stairway; it passes through almost all of its territory and leads to the mountains.
