One of the attractions of the old town is a stone stairway; it passes through almost all of its territory and leads to the mountains. Many centuries ago, Forum of Augustus and the Temple of Asclepius were located on the hill. Today, on the site of prehistoric monuments the Racic family Mausoleum can be seen. Next to it there is the picturesque Chapel of St. Rock.
Among the other attractions the Prince’s Palace is notable; it is located on the waterfront and is a must-see landmark. The beautiful palace was turned into a museum; its collection is very interesting and diverse. Fans of educational excursions will be interested in visiting the Monastery of Our Lady of the Snows that also houses an interesting collection of exhibits, including paintings of world famous painter Vlaho Bukovac. The artist has born and spent most of his life in Cavtat; his house is also considered a local landmark. The Vlaho Bukovac House was converted into an art museum, which in addition to his works keeps paintings of other famous Croatian painters.
A very attractive and interesting architectural site is the church of St. Nicholas. It is an imposing building with a thought-out façade; its interior strikes with its irresistible appearance. The remains of ancient walls that once protected the city from invaders have also preserved in Cavtat.
