Unter den Linden Boulevard also deserves your closest attention as many notable architectural sights are located along it. During the walk guests will see Humboldt University, Palace of Princess, Brandenburg Gate, Palace of Crown Prince, Berlin Cathedral, and the world famous Adlon hotel. Among the places worthy of visiting are those that are reminiscent of the Soviet times of Germany’s Capital such as DDR Wachturm, the last surviving tower separating the border between West and East Berlin, the Monument to the victims of the war in Treptower Park, and the Russische Botschaft remarkable for its existence since 1837. The building is surrounded by a fence, as if symbolizing the “Iron Curtain”. Reichstag building, Berlin

» The Reichstag building symbolizes Germany; quadrangular base represents four areas of Germany, and the dome emblematizes the unity of the imperial power.
» Reichstag is not only the building, where the German Parliament sits. The museum houses the modern art collection, which is one of the most important in Germany.
» The Reichstag is connected with other parts of the parliamentary complex by underground corridors and bridges over Spree River.
» The Reichstag was restored after the World War II, but not completely. A part of the wall of the building was left in memory of the Soviet soldiers who come down to Berlin; there are inscriptions of the Soviet soldiers where they captured their memories.
» There is the mirrored cone in the center of the glass dome of the Reichstag. Bouncing off, the daylight falls into the plenary hall of the Bundestag.

Berlin Cathedral, Berlin

» Berlin Cathedral had never been a cathedral in the truest sense of the word, because Berlin has never been the seat of the Bishop of the Catholic Church.
» Initially this richly decorated building of the Silesian granite with a dome reached 114 meters. In 1945, the bomb hit the dome. The building hasn’t been demolished and almost 50 years it stood decapitated.
» There is the open crypt of the Hohenzollern dynasty, which represented 70 of the 89 surviving burials. The magnificent sarcophagus of the Great Elector and his wife Dorothea is among them. Prussian kings and princes are buried in the crypt.
» The pipe organ for the cathedral was built by the famous German organ master of the Romantic period, Wilhelm Sauer.
» Lustgarten Park is laid before the cathedral; its name is translated as the Park of Desires.

Zionskirche, Berlin

» Zionskirche is the Protestant church known largely due to the fact that Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the theologian and the member of the anti-Nazi conspiracy, was its pastor.
» The name of the temple is directly associated with the name of the south-west of the hill in Jerusalem, on which stood the fortress city. This hill is also known as Mount Zion; that’s the symbol of Jerusalem and the whole Holy Land.
» King William I of Prussia established a Fund for financial support for the construction of new churches as gratitude to God for the fact that he managed to avoid assassination. This fund of 10,000 thalers was allocated for the construction of Zionskirche.
» During World War II Zionskirche was severely damaged; almost all church floors, altar and windows in the chancel were destroyed.
» In summer months Zionskirche is open to visitors. On Sundays in the afternoon, you can climb the tower, where there is an observation deck at a height of 22 meters with a good view of Berlin in three directions. Vaulted ceilings over the main space of the church are clearly seen from the top.

» French Cathedral was originally conceived as a church for the Huguenots, refugees from France. Their number at the beginning of the 13th century was about a quarter of all the inhabitants of Berlin.
» The building is called cathedral, although there never was episcopal liturgy.

St. Hedwig Cathedral, Berlin

» Cathedral of St. Hedwig is the Roman Catholic cathedral located on Berlin's Bebelplatz Square. That’s the main Catholic church in Berlin, the center of the Catholic episcopate and residence of the Archbishop of Berlin.
» It was necessary to propose numerous Catholic immigrants who arrived in Berlin, especially from Silesia, a place to worship, so the cathedral was dedicated to St. Hedwig Silesian.
» The Cathedral of St. Hedwig has been burned to the ground in 1943 during air raids on Berlin and was completely rebuilt lately.
» It took a long time from 1747 to 1773 to build the cathedral, as construction was delayed because of lack of funds. Donations were collected all over Europe.
» Under the cathedral there is the crypt that sometimes serves as a baptistery and confessional. It also served as a place for the burial of the Berlin archbishops and Catholic martyrs who died during the Nazi period.
