More to see in Andorra la Vella
Shopping is the second most popular activity in Andorra La Vella. And it is the most popular activity for those who are indifferent to mountain skiing. The reason for this is that a small country is entirely a free trade zone. Most of the major stores are concentrated in the capital. Prices for many goods are lower by 20, 40 or even 60 percent due to the absence of customs duties. However, the variety of brands is smaller than in Paris or Barcelona. But the available range, especially of European goods, is quite good. The French and Spanish love to spend time looking for the right things here. They often come for a day shopping in the town. Local shops are open from nine-thirty in the morning to eight in the evening from Monday to Saturday. They take a siesta break from one to four. You can also go shopping on Sundays. However, it should be borne in mind that almost all shops are closed at six or seven o'clock on this day. There are no siesta at large shopping centers. They work a couple of hours longer. They usually close at ten in the evening, and at eight on Sundays. There are four days off in the town. The shops are not open at all at this time. It is Christmas on December 25, New year on January 1, Constitution Day on March 14, and the feast of Nativity of Mary at September 8. Although the prices in the Andorra capital are lower than the average European, there are seasons of discounts here too. Prices are reduced twice a year – three weeks before Christmas until … Read further
