Among the religious monuments of the city visitors should definitely not forget to visit Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. According to historical records, the first religious building in its place was built back in the 12th century. In the 13th century the Tatars destroyed the old church, and after their retreat a new cathedral was immediately built on the sight of the old church.
