This wonderful city was founded in 1639. This is a major political and cultural center of Mongolia. The number of attractions in this city is so big that even enumerating them all is very difficult. The lake is very large and takes various shades at different times of the year. The reservoir is surrounded by a chain of extinct volcanoes. Thousands of years ago, their level of activity led to the formation of the lake. In a warm season, walking tours take place along the shores of the lake.
Handdorzh House is considered an attractive architectural monument of the early 20th century. Once, it belonged to the famous diplomat and revolutionary M. Handdorzh. The beautiful house was built on his personal funds in 1913. The house had been privately-owned for about 10 years and later was under the responsibility of the state. It housed different scientific and political institutions. Nowadays, the old house is converted into a museum. It contains household items of the beginning of the 20th century, as well as personal belongings of the former owners.
In the vicinity of Ulanbator there are several amazing hot springs that attract fans of safe recovery from around the world. Tsenher Zhiguur hot spring is one of the most famous. The healing properties of its water are legendary. Presently, a small tourist camp has been established near the source. Here, one can stay for a few days. In a warm season, comfortable fonts are available to vacationers. The spring is popular not only with tourists but with local residents, as well.
A trip to the ancient Manzshir Monastery promises unusual entertainment. The monastery was founded in 1733. Initially, there were 20 temples on its territory. To date, only one remained. These places attract not only lovers of religious attractions, but lovers of nature. Manzshir Monastery is located on the territory of the national park. Here you can go for a walk in beautiful cedar woods and enjoy the birds singing. Buddhist paintings have been found on some rocks in this area.
There are excellent modern sights in the city. Among them, the residential quarter of Viva City is worth noting. It is a set of beautiful modern buildings, the facades of which are painted in various colors.
