Tirol has a great historical and cultural heritage. There are unique religious festivals, fortifications and incredibly beautiful monuments of different eras. There are also modern cultural centers, as well as an abundance of museums with collections of historical artifacts and works of art. There is the ancient Cistercian Abbey in Stams; it was built in the second half of the 13th century. The original building was built in the Romanesque style; in the early 18th century, there was a major reconstruction of abbey, thus it has become a true embodiment of the Baroque style. The religious monument of the later period is located in Innsbruck; it is the Hofkirche Franciscan monastery. Built in the mid16th century, it has perfectly preserved to this day; today, it amazes guests with its elegant interior decoration. An interesting old monastery is situated in Schwarz; its walls house priceless works of great masters of the 18th century.
