More to see in Modica
One of the best destinations in Sicily for connoisseurs of architectural landmarks, Modica is a fantastic example of the Baroque style. This is an idyllic and picturesque settlement in the province of Ragusa that is safely protected by the spectacular Hyblaean Mountains. The city is built on a hill, and so it is conventionally divided into two parts – the higher and lower ones. Each of them is attractive from a tourist point of view. There are many interesting shrines that tourists will definitely find interesting to explore. It seems that builders of these shrines were in some kind of competition and tried to make them higher and more beautiful. Local landscapes are incredibly magnificent and picture-perfect. This is one of the most attractive parts of the island. In the past, the Modica region was home to different tribes and ethnic groups, including the Sicels, ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Vandals, and Goths. You can buy a ticket in the buses themselves when boarding, or in tobacco, or newspaper kiosks. As a rule, all regular trips run from 6 am to 12 noon. With regards traveling to very remote places, regular trips run only once a week, thus tickets will need to be booked in advance. … Open

Nature and parks of Italy

Italian Alps can be conditionally divided into 3 zones. At the very bottom is a broad-leaved forest belt, consisting mainly of cork oaks, European olives, chestnuts, ash trees and cypresses. Beech forests grow after them, turning into coniferous. There is a large number of larch and fir. In the middle zone after the border of the forest, shrub plants predominate. For example, alder, juniper or rhododendrons, wild flowers, sedge and meadows covered with grass. At the highest point snow-capped, no trees, shrubs or flowers are found, and a large amount of moss and lichen cover the ground. … Open
