More to see in Minsk
The tourists that love shopping usually start their walk around Minsk with a visit to GUM. When it opened in 1951, it had a distinctively luxurious interior design. It was this place that citizens went to decades ago to find the rarest, most valuable and expensive goods. Today, the huge 7,000-square-metre shopping mall sells all possible kinds of goods: from clothes of famous brands and toys to sophisticated make-up and jewellery. GUM has several cafes, so you can comfortably relax and walk around shops here all day. A little farther from GUM, there’s another shopping giant—TSUM. It also offers a variety of goods: clothes, footwear, and accessories of the most popular European brands. Besides, there are a couple of large cosmetic and perfume shops as well as jewellery salons. TSUM also attracts visitors by its variety of souvenir shops. It will take well over an hour to explore the five floors of the mall. Belarus Department Store is also a real historic landmark—it opened in 1978. The first floor of the mall houses a few perfume shops, a large crockery shop, and an electronics store. The second floor is fully occupied by shops selling men’s clothes, while the third floor has shops with women’s and children’s clothes. On the fourth floor, you can visit shops selling household goods, interesting souvenirs, and jewellery. Many travellers consider Zamok the best shopping mall in Minsk. It offers visitors a large choice of not only shops, but … Read further
