1. Travelers coming to Leicester for the first time are sure to visit the tourist center, which is located on the Every Street. Here you can take a city guide, a detailed map and leaflets describing attractions. You can also clarify the timing of cultural events and buy tickets there.
2. From Leicester to the British capital it takes no more than one and a half hours by train. Tourists, who have enough time, don’t have to deny themselves the pleasure of visiting London. Among other popular sightseeing places in Birmingham; it takes about an hour to get there.
3. The central area of the city is best visited on foot, this way you could see all the sights and interesting places. Every day special tourist buses, Discover Leicester, cruise on the streets of Leicester. Their route passes through the most picturesque places; buses make stops at all major city attractions.
4. Public transport consists of Arriva and First Leicester buses; using them you can travel freely throughout the city and its surroundings. Thrifty travelers have to buy a special ticket. You can buy it at newsstands or tobacco shops. Tickets are designed for a different number of days and trips.
6. In large shopping malls, luxury stores and upscale restaurants you can pay by credit card. Almost all credit cards of international standard are accepted. It’s better to go to a market with a sufficient number of small denomination bills. You can bargain with the local sellers, however, it won’t reduce the price of goods by more than 5%.
7. In restaurants and cafes it’s customary to leave a tip; it has to be at least 10% of the total order. In the upscale places the service charge is usually included in a total account, but if you want to thank the helpful waiter, you can increase the sum of the tip.
