Over the recent years, the resort district of Nea Flogita has developed significantly. It is famous for its top-rated beach, the total length of which is one and a half kilometers. Despite the fact that this district is one of the newest, it started being built in 1923. At one time, the lands where the resort area is located now belonged to the Monastery on Holy Mt. Athos that laid in ruins at the beginning of the 20th century. So, the district was literally built on the ruins of the ancient monastery. Today, several preserved historical constructions are being reconstructed.
