Main entrance gate of Old Medina is a symbolic architectural monument. It conventionally divides the city into two parts - the old and the new one. The gorgeous gate is part of the remaining fortification walls, that were built to protect the city as early as the 11th century. The gate, which guests of Fez can see today, once served as the main entrance to the city. Its recent restructuring took place in 1912 when there was no longer need to build the gate resistant and impenetrable. Much attention was paid to the decorative design. It keeps on delighting with the harmonious appearance for over a hundred years. There are many interesting natural sights in the vicinity of Fez. The Todra Gorge is among them. The city of Marrakech is an important tourist destination. The so-called historic part of the city is naturally the most attractive one for tourists. The central part of the city is the location of the Koutoubia Mosque, the building of which took place in the 12th century.
