The old part of the city is called Medina and here you can walk on typical eastern streets and watch all most important sights of this place. The most unusual building of this region is Mahakma du Pacha. Nowadays this building is used to hold the prefecture of one of the city’s regions. Tourists are allowed to watch the inner decoration of the building, so they can make an excursion on halls that amaze by their rich inner decoration. The inner garden is a place for a small park. One more famous building of Casablanca is Notre Dame de Lurd. This is a massive building decorated by colorful stained-glass windows that add lightness and elegance to the church. However, this is not the main religious sight of the city as Hassan II Mosque still wins the leadership. The mosque is located on the coast, making this place even more grandiose. Nowadays this building is used to keep the exhibition of National Museum. A large library is also located there. The museum keeps a rich exhibition of frescos, mosaics, Arabian interwoven ornaments, wooden items and sculptures. Hall for prayers is the largest one. It is decorated with 78 columns made of pink granite. The floors in this hall are made of onyx and the walls are decorated with handmade gilding writings.

The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a symbolic monument for the city. This Catholic Church was built in 1930. In 1956, when the independence of Morocco was proclaimed, the church was closed. However, the historic building was not destroyed. Now it is used for exhibitions and various cultural events. In the church, many interesting elements of decoration were preserved. Fans of unusual sights will be interested in visiting the El-Hank Lighthouse. It was built in 1914 and is located on a rocky promontory. The height of this majestic lighthouse is 50 meters. Now for a small fee, everyone can make a tour of the lighthouse, which is conducted by the superintendent himself. Inside the lighthouse, there is an ancient spiral staircase, and many more beautiful elements of marble finishing. At the top of the tower is a wonderful observation deck, from which, you can see very clearly as though in your palms, many iconic landmarks of Casablanca.
