Breuil-Cervinia is a large resort that is ready to welcome its numerous guests all year round. This mountain resort is situated in a beautiful and picturesque place – the Valtournenche Valley. The region has many high mountains, such as the Monte Rosa, Breithorn, Castor, and Matterhorn. These mountains safely protect the valley from winds and low temperatures, so the weather is fine almost all year round. The resort is worth visiting at least for the sake of ascending above the clouds in a ski lift. There are not so many places in Europe where tourists can feel like flying. The period from December to March is the best time to visit the resort. The history of Breuil-Cervinia started yet in the 18th century. At that time, the top of Mount Cervino was like a magnet for alpinists from all over the world. Many people tried to conquer the mountain and get to its top. This interest gave birth to a small settlement that evolved into Breuil-Cervinia. As the closest village to Monte Cervino was at some distance, many alpinists started making camps at the foot of the mountain. Soon, houses appeared instead of tents and temporary huts. The settlement was growing and turned into a town and a popular resort. The name of the town, Breuil-Cervinia, is not random. Locals translate the name as “the land rich in water”. It is easy to see that this name describes the region well if you decide to explore it. There are many mountain lakes, various rivers, and fast streams. … Read further

The park, named after one of Europe's most famous and active volcanoes, became a haven for six hundred and ten species of plants, with forty percent of them originating from the Mediterranean. More than a hundred species of birds live in the green zone, the number of which increases during the migratory season.
