Built in the 15th century, today it is one of the oldest estates in the North West of England. During the reconstruction of this ancient manor, a number of pristine medieval elements was preserved; in 1963 an interesting museum was opened in the historic building. The Medieval Bolton Castle is considered to be one of the most well-preserved and interesting places to visit in the UK. Its construction began in 1378 and lasted more than 20 years, it is in this castle, Scottish Queen Mary Stuart remained in custody in the second half of the 16th century.
