Bansko is really small. However, there are several dozens of interesting attractions in its territory. The Holy Trinity Church in the center of the town is one of the most recognizable and popular among them. Founded in 1835, the marvelous church is famous for its luxurious decor. Having entered the church, visitors will feel like in the museum. Famous Bulgarian artists and craftsmen worked hard on the design of the church, so today visitors can see gorgeous hand-made wooden decorations, as well as ancient icons and frescoes. For more than 150 years, the Holy Trinity Church has been the main symbol of the town. The Assumption Church is a no less important religious attraction. It is an incredibly interesting landmark from an architectural point of view and is considered to be a classic monument in the Bulgarian Revival style. The church was built in the mid-18th century instead of a ruined medieval temple, which failed to survive the Ottoman invasion. A carved wooden iconostasis, which was installed immediately after the opening, remains the main decoration of the church.
