The diameter of the trunk is more than 8 meters, and the tree height is more than 24 meters. The giant trunk splits near the ground, forming a natural arc. The exact age of the majestic Platanus is not known. First mentions of the tree date back to the beginning of the 18th century when a new road was paved in the area. The Platanus is at least 300 years old but the tree is still alive and gets a green crown every spring. There is an interesting nature reserve near Ascoli Piceno - Calanchi del Monte Ascensione.
