At the heart of the city is a beautiful cathedral, also known to many tourists under the unofficial name of the Cathedral of the Lady of Solitude. It is a prime example of the Art Nouveau style, in this ancient cathedral many pristine architectural elements have been preserved. Same as many years ago, today its visitors can admire the beautiful stained-glass windows, and yet graceful sculptures. During construction of the cathedral, the gilt and paint of saturated blue, distinguishing this cathedral from any other. 

For those who prefer long walks, it is necessary to go to the ruins of an ancient castle Chapel of Peace. It is situated on top of a hill, which offers a great panoramic view of the surroundings. Near the ruins of the castle is a 42-meter cross - another historical object, dedicated to leaving sailors. 

Among the natural attractions of Acapulco is the natural reserve of Papagayo, that was founded back in the 40s of previous century. Today this park is reformed into an interesting tourist centre, and there you can not only observe several bird populations, but also a beautiful artificial lake. This park is very popular among those travelling with families, there is a wonderful water park, and even an astronomical playground, a visit to which promises to be an informative event. 

The most unusual cultural institution is easily the Masks Museum. This museum contains a very interesting collection of theatrical masks, with some items dating more than 500 years back. There are masks, owned by local nobles who were slaveholders, literally every one of the exhibits has its own unique story. An interesting gift shop is open for visitors of the museum, where you can buy replicas of those famous masks. 

Many tourists are attracted to the bay of La Quebrada. Here you can watch extreme athletes from the local community jump off a 34 meters high cliff. The coast here is very dangerous and completely covered with sharp rocks, so these jumps are always a huge threat to life.
