More to see in Los Gigantes
Los Gigantes is famous for its natural attractions, and in search of interesting historical monuments, travelers should go explore the city surroundings. Nearby is the picturesque town of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. It was founded in the 15th century and was the capital of the island for over 200 years. Today, its entire territory is considered a valuable architectural site of the colonial times where beautiful 15-17th-century architecture has been preserved. In 1999, the picturesque town was recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site, and now it is one of the most popular walking areas among tourists. The city has many picturesque old streets with colorful houses. Many historic buildings are currently occupied by museums, shops, and restaurants. The historic district of the town is almost completely pedestrian, which makes walks even more comfortable. A special attraction is a leisure park called Lago Martianez, which was formed in the 70s of the last century. It is located in the northern part of the island, which is considered the most uncomfortable for beach holidays. Local residents decided to compensate for the lack of attractive beaches through a beautiful park with huge pools and artificial ponds. It features a lot of green areas with ornamental plants and flower beds, excellent viewing platforms and well-equipped recreation areas. Many tourists come to the park specifically to take a walk around its artificial islets and enjoy the unusual landscape design. Not … Read further
