More to see in Petach Tikva
The city's most visited cultural institution is the Museum of Art housing more than 3,000 works by outstanding masters. In this museum, you can see works of both famous Israeli and foreign artists, the age of many of the paintings presented here exceeds 200 years. The museum often holds temporary exhibitions devoted to the work of young artists. A curious tourist attraction is the Santiago Calatrava Bridge that can be seen at the entrance to the city from the airport side. The design of this bridge is special - its supports are almost invisible. That's why it seems that it literally floats in the air at a first sight. Only a few modern bridges share such a feature. Travers can see another similar bridge in Jerusalem. Not so long ago, a conservatory was opened in the city, a visit to which would be interesting for all music fans. It is equipped with several large concert halls; classical music performers from around the world, as well as popular musical bands from Israel, are frequent guests here. One of the favorite walking places for the locals and guests of the city is the central square. It is adorned with a beautiful fountain with a sculptural composition, and around the square, there are a lot of fruit trees. The main decoration of the square is monuments dedicated to the city founders- Yoel Moshe Salomon, Yehoshua Stampfer, Moshe Shmuel Raab and David Gutmann. In the immediate vicinity of the square, you can find many interesting monuments dedicated to the … Read further

Overview of festivals and celebrations in Israel

Many colorful festivals and festive events take place in Israel year after year. One of the most important festivities in the country is the Jewish New Year also called “Rosh Hashanah”. It is celebrated for two days; on the new moon of the first and second days of the Jewish autumn month “Tishrei”. During this holiday, it is common for the whole family to unite at the table with traditional Israeli dishes. Each dish symbolizes one wish: fruits of pomegranate tree for fertile land, fish heads for superiority in everything, round bread “halal” for health, apples and honey for happiness. On Rosh Hashanah, the Jews are invited to go to the synagogue. During the festive service, the “shofar” is blown calling for repentance and appearance before the Court of God. … Open
