Uppsala Cathedral is, without a doubt, one of the main attractions of the city. The construction of the cathedral started in the 13th century and lasted for almost 200 years. This is a grand-scale building created in the Gothic style. Its spacious halls strike visitors with luxurious interior and fine handmade paintings, which cover both walls and altar. The Uppland Province Museum is located in the very heart of the city. The museum occupies an old water mill, built in 1760, which is still active. In total, there are more than 800000 exhibits, among which are unique archaeological finds and collections of old photographs. The museum collection was established in the early 20th century. In 1959, it moved to the building of the old mill.
