Expo 2020 in Dubai Was Visited by More Than 7 Million Visitors

News The total number of visits to Expo 2020 in Dubai reached 7,167,591 by 20 December, which is a solid result taking into consideration the decline in global tourism due to COVID-19. Organizers of this exceptional event did their best to prepare a fantastic show and maintain safety measurements for everyone.

Expo 2020 is the largest global event that has taken place since the start of the global pandemic. To make the event safe for both visitors and staff, it was decided to add four on-site PCR testing facilities. All frontline employees and entertainers are tested regularly, and everyone who works at Country Pavilions is eligible for free testing as well. All mass gatherings with close contact such as parades were temporarily banned to prevent the spread of the virus.

Dubai, the same as the rest of the UAE, has a high rate of vaccination – more than 90% of the country’s population is fully vaccinated. People who work at Expo 2020 must be vaccinated too and have all required boosters. This rule applies to both local and international staff, contractors, and service providers. The mandatory vaccination rule, however, doesn’t apply to visitors. To be able to enter the Expo 2020 territory, they either need to have proof of vaccination or a negative PCR test result made within 72 hours. All visitors are required to wear face masks both indoor and outdoor.

The ambitious show has attracted celebrities and honorable guests such as His Holiness Sultan Al Bohra, Expo Ambassador Lionel Messi, famous Egyptian musician Mohamed Ramadan, the Brainiac Live science show, and many more. Besides regular pavilions, Expo 2020 has temporary events such as Knowledge & Learning Week, Programme for People and Planet, World Majlis, and a Business forum. For the Christmas period, the Expo site got a themed decoration with an eye-catching Christmas tree at Al Wasl Plaza. Local cafes also offer a special festive menu and drink options for the festive season.

If you haven’t visited this event yet, there is still time to book a hotel in Dubai because Expo 2020 Dubai runs until 31 March 2022. People who are unable to visit the emirate can make a virtual tour on the Expo 2020 website. By the way, the virtual visitation has already reached 31.6 million by the end of December.
