Cambodia Opens Its Borders for Tourists in November

News Good news for travelers worldwide – Cambodia plans to reopen for guests by November 2021. This country in Southeast Asia has a successful vaccination program that has made it possible to resume tourism. Phom Penh hotels, for example, are safe to visit as this city is known as one of the most vaccinated in entire Southeast Asia. The Cambodian tourism agency is currently finalizing all details of the new entry rules but we already know that the country will become available for fully vaccinated international travelers with proof of their inoculation.

Cambodia plans to remove its 14-day quarantine requirement for fully vaccinated travelers and replace it with a negative COVID test made within 72 hours before the arrival and one more negative COVID test made at Phnom Penh International Airport. Cambodia is quite a safe place for international guests – the country has vaccinated more than 60% of its 16.5-million population. This makes Cambodia the second most vaccinated country in Southeast Asia with only Singapore ahead. Cambodia plans to vaccinate three-fourths of its population by October. It also now vaccinates children over the age of 12.

The country closed its borders for international tourists in April 2020. Cambodia’s fight with COVID was successful – it recorded no deaths from COVID and only roughly 400 cases of the disease, most of which were caught at the border. There was an outburst of the epidemic in February 2021, which caused the nationwide lockdown for two months.

New hotels welcome the border reopening initiative, and the Hyatt Regency hotel in Phnom Penh is one of them. The first Hyatt-branded hotel in the capital of Cambodia opened yet in January 2021 but it wasn’t working full force due to restrictions. The 247-room hotel is located only 30 minutes away from the airport. Such popular landmarks as the National Museum, the Royal Palace, and the riverside are within the reach. The hotel is open in a French-style villa famous as the Colonial House. Inside the hotel, visitors will find French colonial influences with Khmer accents and artworks by local artists.

As 99% of the hotel’s staff is double vaccinated, hotel guests do not need to worry about their safety. The new Hyatt hotel in Phnom Penh has five dining venues including all-day dining restaurants, an outdoor restaurant, a metro-themed bar with sustainable seafood and striking city views, and a breakfast and high tea café.
