Red Carnation Opens Its First Hotel in Scotland

News The Edinburgh hotel scene is soon to have another prominent addition. Red Carnation is about to launch its first project in Scotland and make the Tollman’s family wish to showcase the heritage and exquisite charm of the Scottish capital come true.

The new hotel has a truly exclusive address – 100 Princess Street or the site of the former Overseas League. This place still has the atmosphere of adventures and great Scottish explorers, for many of which the League was their second home. Red Carnation could hardly find a better place for their debut hotel in Edinburgh.

The hotelier was very serious about maintaining the original charm and iconic design features of the historic building on 100 Princess Street. For this purpose, they hired a team of professionals including Toni Tollman, Brian Brennan, and Philippe Bonino who were also in charge of the restoration of the renowned Ashford Castle in Ireland. The main aim was to protect the heritage and original style of the building and add new signature traits. The designers were inspired by the works of Alexander McQueen and collaborated with local artisans in order to create exclusive custom-made pieces. The tartan made by Araminta Campbell is one of them. The central staircase of the building has another prominent decoration – a hand-painted mural made by Croxford & Saunders. This mural is dedicated to several great Scottish explorers.

The family-run Red Carnation Hotel Collection strives to offer exclusive services based on the “anything, anytime” approach. Guests already could enjoy it at the Hotel 41 in London, the Edinburgh property’s sister hotel. The hotel on 100 Princess Street will have only 30 luxurious guest rooms and suites, many of which offer striking views of Edinburgh Castle.

The “Explorers’ Club’, which will be available to residents only, offers authentic Scottish experiences. It features a wine wall with over 200 bottles of the finest wine and a collection of the most famous Scottish whiskies on another wall. A carefully curated menu contains exclusive treats, delicious cocktails with Scotland’s “liquid gold”, and everlasting classics. The hotel will have a 2:1 staff ratio to provide truly the best service. The Red Carnation hotel in Edinburgh will officially open its doors in April 2022.
