» The Palace of Benrath and the surrounding park is the most beautiful place in Düsseldorf. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 
» Karl-Theodor has ordered the design and construction of this country palace for leisure and hunting to the French architect Nicolas de Pigaze in 1755. The construction was completed in 1770.
» The main building has interesting architectural features. From the outside, the palace seems to be a two-story building, but inside it actually has four floors due to low ceilings. These rooms were designated for servants. The building contains seven secret staircases for servants, to prevent disturbance of the house owners.
» It is noteworthy that Karl-Theodore visited the palace only twice: after the completion of the construction and fourteen years later in 1785.
» Since 1929, the building housed a gymnasium for children. And only since the year 2000, museums and exhibition expositions have been opened here. There are also thematic excursions to the inner rooms of the palace.
Rheinturm, Dusseldorf

» The Rhine Tower was built by the architect Harald Dailmann in 1982. This project was quite exclusive and this is the only tower in the world, erected according to this design. 
» The height of the tower is 240.5 meters - this is the tallest building in the city.
» At a height of 180 meters, in a so-called "basket" there is a panoramic restaurant revolving around its axis and an observation deck. The tunnel contains 4 high-speed elevators for visitors, technical personnel and cargo.
» Each year the tower is visited by 300,000 people, enjoying the panoramic views of the city.
» At the foot of the tower, there is a light clock consisting of 62 lamps. Read it from top to bottom - hours, minutes, and seconds. It is the biggest clock in the world and is included in the Guinness Book of Records.
Johanneskirche, Dusseldorf

» The Church of St. John is made of red brick and is finished with a sharp green spire. Its height is more than 85 meters. Therefore, it is clearly visible from all sides of the city and is a good guide for tourists. 
» This Protestant church was built in 1881 and is designed for 1600 seats.
» The portal of the church was originally decorated with a statue of Apostle John. But during the war, in 1943, the church was badly damaged. The roof with figures of angels was destroyed. Later, during restoration, they were returned not to their original place, but placed near the wall of the temple, as a reminder of a devastating war.
» The restoration of the building was carried out in 1951 and, of course, much in the interior of the church has changed. Not all the details returned to their original locations.
» Now, St. John's Church continues to hold services and liturgies for believers. On Wednesdays, free organ concerts are given in the church.
» In the hall, there is a café with a different set of products and offering delicious lunches. In the evenings and at nights, the church is beautifully illuminated and resembles the Kremlin towers.
Esprit Arena, Dusseldorf

» The Esprit Arena was built in 2004 as a multifunctional building. In addition to football matches, other sports events and thousands of concerts are held here. 
» The spectator stands are protected by a canopy, and the playing field is protected by a sliding roof. The football field has a heating system, which allows carrying out various events in the winter.
» The stadium originally accommodated 51,500 spectators. In 2010, the number of seats was increased by adding 10000 standing places.
» In 2009, the right to give a name to the stadium was bought by the Esprit clothing company, and since then the arena has been named.
» Esprit Arena hosted a race of champions in 2010 and 2011 with the participation of such stars of motorsport as Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, David Coulthard, Mick Duen, etc.
» In 2011, the stadium hosted 56th Eurovision Song Contest.
» In different years, there were concerts of Paul McCartney, Beyonce, AC / DC, The Rolling Stones and Depeche Mode.
» The stadium adjoins the Tulip Inn Dusseldorf, which can be accessed directly from the rostrum. A terrace of one of the hotel's restaurants goes directly to the stands of the Esprit Arena.

St. Rochuskirche, Dusseldorf

Facts: » Rochuskirche was erected in the late 19th century and consecrated in honor of St. Roch.
» The war greatly destroyed the building of the temple. Only the bell tower was left intact.
» After the war, the place of the old building was fully cleared. The city community decided to erect a new church building. The project of this new church turned out to be completely unconventional, very brave for our time.
» The temple building looks like a huge egg-shaped dome, surrounded by a low building made of red brick. Inside the structure, the dome is set on 12 columns, symbolizing the 12 apostles.
» The construction of the temple was completed in 1955 and was dedicated to the victims of Auschwitz.
» In 1982, on an ancient bell tower, located nearby, a huge figure of the crucified Christ was installed. On his left hand is the number of a concentration camp prisoner. Thus, the memory of the priest Maximilian Kolbe, who was tortured in a concentration camp, was immortalized.
» The Church of Roshkirche is open daily, it is still a parish church.
Basilika St. Lambertus, Dusseldorf

Facts: » St. Lambert's Basilica is the oldest building in Düsseldorf. In the 8th century, the first chapel in honor of St. Lambert was built by Saint Willeick.
» In 1288, the village of Düssel received the status of a city and the construction of a wooden church began. After several fires that destroyed the wooden structure, the Duke Wilhelm I continued the construction of the temple, and in 1394 the basilica was consecrated.
» This event is considered as the year of the church foundation. At the same time, the relic of St. Apollinaris, the patron of Dusseldorf, were brought into the basilica.
» To this day, the temple keeps the relic of the head of St. Willeick. Apart from this, the church hosts two miraculous images of the Blessed Virgin dated from 1100 and 1334, and the tomb of the Duke Wilhelm V, buried in 1592. A valuable relic also is the Gothic tabernacle, which depicts the most ancient coat of arms of Dusseldorf.
» In 1974, the Pope awarded the status of a "small Basilica" to the church of St. Lambert.
