Located in the center of the European continent, the Czech Republic shares borders with Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and Austria. The Šumava National Park is recognized as the largest Czech forest land. It stretches 150 kilometers along the Czech-German border. Most of the park's mountain range is covered by a dense forest. The park occupying an area of 685 square kilometers was included in the list of UNESCO biosphere reserves in 1990.
