It has a rather impressive scale. The length of the oasis is about 50 km, and the width is 20 km. At the heart of this beautiful oasis there is a town, whose population is about 7 000 people. Next to it there are lots of smaller settlements, which are home to other 16 000 people.
About one hundred years ago, Siwa began to attract the attention of archaeologists. They were able to find out that this picturesque oasis has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Travelers who visit this incredibly beautiful area, are able to stroll through the extensive olive and palm groves, visit the quiet villages, and get acquainted with the culture and the way of life of local residents. There are several plants that produce olive oil on the territory of Siwa. These facilities also attract attention of tourists.
