Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic Cathedral in Europe. It is difficult to find its equal in beauty. Its construction began in 1401. It was fully completed in 1519. A huge building was built on the site of the destroyed old mosque. The cathedral building impresses not only with its rich exterior design but also with its incredible scale. The building is 116 meters long and 76 meters wide.
Many elegant turrets, traditional rosette windows, stucco molding, and beautiful sculptures form the unique appearance of the cathedral. Sculptures are placed in various parts of the facade. Seville Cathedral is famous not only for its impressive appearance. Many priceless works of art and religious artifacts are stored in it. Visitors to the cathedral can admire the masterpieces of Velasquez, Murillo, Goya, and de Zurbarán. You can also see the most beautiful design elements made of gold. According to one of the legends, the cross kept in the cathedral was made of the first gold that Christopher Columbus brought from America.
