The very first settlement on the site of the Old Town was founded by the Spaniards in the early 16th century. The center of the historic district of Havana is the Malecon. It was founded in 1902; the length of the promenade is about 5 km. This is where the most prestigious hotels in the city, popular casinos and restaurants, as well as some amazing monuments and an observation tower of the 18th century are situated.
La Cabana fortress complex remains the leader among the most visited historic sites in Havana. It was built in the second half of the 18th century. It has been perfectly preserved after more than 200 years. Now, the complex is converted into the park with great historical museums. The Cathedral of Havana deserves special attention among the religious attractions. That’s a spectacular monument in the Baroque style. Its design was created by the world famous French artists. Some masterpieces were managed to be kept intact to the present day.
