Okapi Wildlife Reserve, Congo

Nature lovers can visit the Okapi Wildlife Reserve in Congo, which is located in the north-eastern part of the state. The surface of the nature reserve is about 13.7 thousand square kilometers. The main value of the national nature conservation area are rare animals, some of whose species are on the verge of extinction. There are 13 species of monkeys on the territory of the nature reserve. In the park you can also see the Wild elephant, and the main inhabitants of the park are okapi.
There are about 5000 individuals in the National Park, and the total population on the continent is only 30000. The Okapi Wild Animal Reserve is one of the few nature reserves in Africa, on the territory of which today the pygmies live. In recent years the unique flora and fauna of the nature reserve has been severely threatened. The huge damage is inflicted by hunters, whose aim are rare animals.
